Question:how long are acting auditions usually for an idependant film

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: how long are acting auditions usually for an idependant film

It depends on how smoothly they run the auditions.

I just ran auditions for my friend's independent film. It, too, was an open call and we had a very large turn out. However, we kept things moving and I don't think there were any actors who had to wait more than a half an hour before being seen.

The actual audition itself took under 5 minutes. We asked some people to stay and read for other roles, but not everyone. If you're not asked to stay and read more - it doesn't mean anything bad, necessarily. There were some actors who were right for the role we had them read for initially and we didn't feel the need to see them read for anything else - especially since there were so many actors to see - and we didn't want to waste anyone's time.

I have found that it is not usual for an audition to be run as smoothly as ours was. So you should be prepared to stay an hour or two, but don't be surprised if you're seen quickly. Be wary, though, if you're waiting hours to be seen - and there's not hundreds of people waiting to audition.

Remember that you are auditioning the film company just as much as they are auditioning you. If you feel they are disorganized and they are wasting your time and they're keeping you for hours without any reason - you probably shouldn't work with them.

Whenever I (or my friends) had been to a poorly run audition - and then was offered a role, which we took - we always regretted it. We thought that they probably wouldn't be as disorganized as they were at the auditions - we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. But without fail, doing those shows or film projects were always terrible experiences.

So as much as you want to be in a film, make sure the people doing the film know what they're doing. See how they run their auditions. Watch any of the films they've done before. Read reviews about them. Make sure you're not just wasting your time.

EDIT:
For an Independent film - there should be no reason to get to the open call super early - it's not American Idol. For an Indy Film you should be prepared to stay a couple of hours.

It depends on how many people are auditioning and what they are auditioning for. If you need to know, then it is okay to ask ahead of time. Most of the time, though, they will tell you in advance.

Depends on whether a 'casting couch' method is used or not.

It depends how many people and what they have you do. I have been to auditions where i was in and out in about an hour, and i have been to ones that lasted a good 4 1/2 hours. it all depends.

The longer the better. If they ask you to leave, that's bad news.

Okay, now search up "acting for teens" on google andit'll bring you to osme websites. I want the samething. I live in New York-the city of fame. lol and i want to start my acting careeas well and I'm 13 too. well good luck. bye

that depends on how good or bad u r, if your rubbish not long at all love

An open call can be hours. Depends when you sign up, how many people are ahead of you, how quickly they're going through auditionees, or if you got there many hours before to sign up to be early in line. Depends on the project also, how many roles available and how many actors it draws. There is no finite answer to your question. I'd say expect to spend at least half your day. The actual audition will probably take less than five minutes.

it depends on how much peple r there
