Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Audition songs?

Question:However tired this topic may be, I need an audition song for a VERY important audition.

Here are the rules/guidelines:

-don't even suggest something from wicked.
-or grease.
-nothing overdone.
-shows off my acting skills AND singing skills (usually uptempo songs are like this). For example, "my new philosophy" from you're a good man, charlie brown. or pretty much anything from you're a good man, charlie brown.
-I have a range from lowlowlow alto, as in i'm working on getting a d flat below middle c, and highhighhigh soprano, as i getting the c two octaves above middle... so whatever female song you find fitting the above guidelines, I can sing it in my range
-I'm an experienced singer/actor, so I can do the tough ones.

Thank you so much! ?

Haha, nothing from Wicked. ;D I would have to agree with you there. Nice songs, yes, but how many times has Popular or Defying Gravity been suggested? Like, at least a million. Maybe two million.

And I love My New Philosophy!! It's so cute and I chose it for my audition song for our Broadway Cabaret show. I got in, too. (: But enough of my babbling...

"My Strongest Suit" from Aida
"All for You", "Notice Me, Horton", "It's Possible" from Seussical
"Not For the Life of Me" from Thoroughly Modern Millie
"The Life of the Party" from The Wild Party
"Show Off" from The Drowsy Chaperone
"Diva's Lament" from Spamalot
"Whispering" from Spring Awakening
"Mix Tape" from Avenue Q
"Cock-eyed Optimist" from ...?

I hope that helped, and good luck! (:

I've always wanted to do "Revenge" from "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman," but I'm not an actress or singer, lol. We had a female Dr. Sedgwick for our production and she was positively brilliant. Great singer. And auditioning with this piece definitely is acting whilst singing.
