Once again folks, it costs NOTHING to get an agent. Agents take a percentage of your pay AFTER they help get you work which is fair considering they get you the audition in the first place among other things. The costs are paying to have headshots done, taking classes, driving to auditions, etc. All of which you need regardless of who your agent or manager is.

If he has lots of connections in the business and can get you meetings and auditions with agents and CD's because he has a relationship with them & he knows everything there is to know about child labor laws as they pertain to the entertainment business, individual state regulations, Coogan accounts (in CA), work permits, etc. then by all means he may be able to manage you but if that is not the case then he has no business managing you.

If you and your dad don't know what a manager does then you don't need one yet. Get some more experience first or you'll likely sign a contract you don't understand and get yourself stuck for the rest of your career.

You shouldn't have to pay for an agent in the first place.

And besides, a manager and an agent are two different things. Your dad does not have the skills, connections, or SAG franchise agreement to be an agent. A parent can't just become an agent any more than my dog can just become an astronaut.
