Unless you have professional footage to put on it you should not be making a demo reel. Agents don't expect a newcomer to have one and you'll just look all the more amateur if you do that. To show an agent how good you are you should be performing. Have you done anything? Theatre, student films, indie films, etc.? You should have a resume to show your body of work. You should be in calsses to sho that you are training anf honing your skills as a a performer. When you have some good footage from speaking roles you have done in those student and indie films, then you can have demo reel made to submit to agents, but believe me they do want theatre experience on your resume. It shows you can handle yourself in a live situation with no net.

Also, do not submit to agents until you are truly ready or it will backfire as well as waste your money. Use your money for classes and headshots to get started right. Look to local colleges for student film casting and backstage.com - casting search. Also actorsaccess.com

good luck,
