To be honest if you are 100% certain you want to be an actor your major is good, but I would reccomend a broader minor such as something that can land you a job outside of Hollywood. To be an actor you don't have to have a degree in anything, you don't even need a degree at all. It's all based on your looks and how you perform at auditions. I think you should go to school in LA and pursue acting on the side if it is something you really feel strongly about. It is VERY difficult to to succeed, and you may regret your major.

Kudos to you for going to school first. Sounds like an excellent plan, though another option would be to minor in something else that interests you that has a little more placement outside of school; science or business is always good. Then again, 20 years from now, or even 5, your undergraduate major doesn't have to define the rest of your life. Follow your dreams and good things will happen. Good luck!

I agree with Jesse's answer. Film is a great major. I can't say I was happy being a Theatre Major. Almost everyone I know regretted taking it, and wished they had something to fall back on. I minored in film and communications, and am glad I have that experience because it got me a good job now where I'm making a decent salary, and can work on the side as a singer / actress. Communications is great - take a look at that. You can use that in many areas of life. I recommend taking acting classes on the side - even outside of college, away from all the theatre politics. Best to you - really research all your options (both in school and after!)

it really depends on what kind of acting you want to do. you didn't specify, but it sounds like you want to act for film and television. unless you want to direct or otherwise work on the technical end of the film industry, i wouldn't recommend a film studies major, as they tend to lean more towards that end of the business. as an actor, a theatre major and a film studies minor would be more effective in your training because you would actually be taking courses in acting. you have to decide what exactly you want from your career. if that's really what you want, then this is what you should do.
