What a coincidence!
I saw Wicked in Chicago in April of 2007. I personally thought it was fantastic and definitely worth it.

I think you'll enjoy it very, very much so. The only part I didn't like was the fact that I couldn't see the very beginning part with the dragon, the opening scene, and few sparing moments throughout the play because of the seats I had (not bad seats in any way, but second story on the left-- a little awkward). But even then-- the musical is wonderful. You'll love it.

Depending on how long you stay there and where you stay at, you should also be able to fit in some other shows if you'd like. I know that when I went, I didn't plan on it but I ended up seeing two other plays, too ("Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and "The Diary of Anne Frank"). It's really all about timing.

You should have a lot of fun. I've seen different performances on the Internet with different leads, and they're all equally wonderful. There should be no major difference. (And they do use the giant hat at the beginning. Someone mentioned above how some theatres may not.)

Hope this helps!!

i saw wicked in boston this past fall and it was amazing! sorry ive never been to chicago! have a blast!

Never saw it. But I can't wait for the movie-

Will Smith is staring as the Cowardly Lion

no

I've never seen it in Chicago, but I can't imagine it would be extremely different, considering it's not a tour version.

And of course the cast will be different...

Have fun!

The main differences would be whether or not the Chicago cast has the giant witch hat in the begining. Other than that, every single show is the same. But its a live performance, so no two shows are an exact carbon copy of each other. In other words, live stage performances are like snowflakes.

The current Chicago Cast is:
Elphaba-Dee Roscioli
G(a)linda-Erin Mackey
Madame Morrible-Barbara Robertson
The Wizard-Gene Weygandt
Dr. Dillamond-David de Vries
Nessarose-Heidi Kettenring
Boq-Stanton Nash
Fiyero-Michael Seelbach
Chistery-Steve James Ewing

To the person below me:
I mentioned that because the Tour does not have the hat in the begining because its so large. I know LA and NYC have it, I just wasn't sure about Chicago.
