Question:I definately wouldn't suggest actually injuring yourself for a part. There's a ton of tricks you can do with stage make-up that will help you achieve the look of being bruised. If a director is asking you to physically hurt yourself for a part I'd be a little skeptical.

Good luck!

You need to run......run away from any play that requires real physical injury for a part. That is outrageous, to say the least!

first and foremost....DO NOT GIVE YOURSELF REAL BRUISES!! that's why it's called acting.

this might sound silly, but it's simple and it works. take a #2 pencil, rub it on a piece of paper until you have about a 2 inch by 2 inch dark square then rub it on your wrist. cheap, instant bruise that washes off easily and it's easy to experiment with so you can get the look you need. if you want to add just a bit more realism to it, get some matte purple eye shadow and use that along with the pencil.

again, DON'T BRUISE YOURSELF

i would say 'break-a-leg' but i'm scared you might actually do that :-) lol

enjoy your ACTING

This is carrying method acting too far. No professional I ever heard of would purposely injure themselves. Use makeup please.

Ok so I understand you are going for realism

but you need not to ever injure your self for the purpose of a show!

Theres stage make-up for a reason
bruises are so simple and only take about 2 minutes to apply.
and that thing the person suggested about the pencil might work but it depends on your skin tone.
but
I can't stress it enough for you NOT to injure yourself on purpose
