Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: can someone help explain this to me this was said my Helena: He hailed down oaths that he was only mine. And when this hail some heat from Hermia felt, So he dissolved, and showers of oaths did melt also are there any figurative language used? "he hailed down oaths that he was only mine..." She is saying that Demetris told her that he loved only her and told her that a lot(hailed down oaths) "And when this hail some heat from Hermia felt, So he dissolved, and showers of oaths did melt When he got near Hermia his promises of love and devotion to Helena faded away The figurative language is metaphorical- she is comparing his oaths to ice that melts when it contacts a heat source, in this case, Hermia. The "heat" is also figurative, meaning that in Helena's opinion, Hermia is very good looking. This line might be said with a tint of sarcasm and sadness, perhaps even jealousy. |
