Position:Home>Theater & Acting> South Pacific tryouts?

Question:It said in the evening paper that they're holding tryouts for the summer production, South Pacific. I'd dearly love to be in it, even if I was just "color" in the background. Is there anything at all that a woman, mid 60s could do? Some small part? An assistant to Bloody Mary? Or a nanny to the children? Those of you who know this play well, please give me some ideas to suggest to them that I could do????

I am still hopeful that my grandkids will end up being the LeBeque children. Paper didn't mention those parts being open, & I know the director has approached my daughter as to getting her kids to try for these roles. So, I am hopeful that he has already cast them, in his own mind. My future son in law has already been told he's in, tho they haven't yet told him what part. He's not a leading man sort, but very musically talented.

YOu could be one of the older ladies on th eisland of Bali Hai or a servant Emile.
Good Luck!
This Christmas our local theatre is doing a production of Annie and I really would like to play the part of Agatha Hannigan. :)

There are not roles written, per se, for older performers (other than Emil, maybe); but local shows will sometimes create roles that weren't there before. (Like the excellent suggestions above.) Also, keep in mind that there are lots of fun things you could do offstage. I myself have been known to take a design gig now and then simply because I find it fun. Have a great time!
