Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Has anyone seen the musical "Mary Poppins" on Broadway?

Question:Our school is going to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. I want to know if it's any good because i don't want to spend $142 if i isn't good. Can anyone here tell me something about it. I've seen many shows on Broadway before but those were adult shows this is a children show, at least i think it is, thanks so much! :-D

I think it kind of stinks, honestly. The direction and design is pretty uneven (you sometimes wonder if you are watching Mary Poppins or some other strange play), and the songs that they replaced the film music with are simply not as good as the film's songs. (Some of the film music is used though.)

It's pitched heavily to kids, sometimes without logic - at one point in the second act, a giant carousel version of the parrot umbrella appears and opens up for them to ride ... without explanation. The flying is cool, but it's only once, and it's only her. Bert tapping upside down is kinda dumb - all the wires are in full view and it is clear what's going on.

Look up the New York Times review for it. That will give you another opinion.
