Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Does anyone know a good song for a Wicked audtion?

Question:It can't be from the actual show. I am trying out for Elphaba, Galinda and Nessarose, so it has to fit those characters. Any good ideas? Maybe half belty and half non-belty?

Home-Beauty and the Beast (its a good blend of head and chest voice. Very nice, esp. for Elphie/Nessa)

Good Night My Someone-The Music Man (good for Galinda if you add some Kristin Chenoweth sound to it.)

Part of Your World-The Little Mermaid (nice for both Elphie and Galinda.)

Those are some good ones I can reccommend. Good luck!

where is the audition? I know this is not really a good answer, but i really want to know!! Thanksxx

sing the song you sing the best

Er, I can't say for sure, but here a few general recommendations:

My Strongest Suit" from Aida
"All for You" from Seussical
(Also from Seussical: "It's Possible", "One-Feathered Tail", "Amazing Mayzie", "Amazing Gertrude", "Notice Me, Horton", or any others you like from there)
"Not For the Life of Me" from Thoroughly Modern Millie
"The Life of the Party" from The Wild Party
"Mix Tape - Avenue Q
"Show Off" from The Drowsy Chaperone
"Inside Your Heart" from Bat Boy, the Musical
"Diva's Lament" from Spamalot.

Let me warn you, if it is for a non equity show and you get cast you may be shut down as the amateur rights are currently unavailable. If you are auditioning for broadway or a tour then wow, the best of luck to you, and I would recommend something with a contemporary sound, look at Elton John's Aida, if you want Galinda go for something that has that typical Kristen Chenoweth amount of pluck, she does an awesome version of What Shall I Do from You Never Know. I would sing that.

Sing something from a Stephen Schwartz show. Also, you're auditioning for both Elphaba AND Glinda? Pick one and forget about Nessarose. They are totally different characters with totally different voices. An actress who makes an awesome Glinda will not necessarily make an awesome Elphaba (can you see Idina Menzel as Glinda? Or Kirstin Chenoweth as Elphaba??). So, instead of trying to be everything (and end up canceling yourself out and being nothing) really narrow down your type and pick a song that shows off a high belt (for Elphaba) or a comedic song with a pop soprano for Glinda.

You better be auditioning for a proffesional show and not a community/school production. Wicked copywright states that no more that three (3) songs from the show may be performed by a non-proffesional event.

It isn't a good idea to try out for all three of the female leads. G(a)linda is a soprano, Elphaba is a mezzo-soprano, and Nessarose is a mezzo-soprano as well.
