Just look at the way that the people react towards him. He is well-liked by the people, as is obvious when he is offered the crown by them. They WANT him to be king.

I must say, though, that the people are not smart enough to know what is good for them, as the nobles in the play often point out. This is another one of the reasons that Brutus agrees to oppose his morals and murder: so that the Roman people do not fall into the wrong hands.

You realize, of course, he is killed by roman people. Even his best friend is in on it.
