Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Stage name for me?

Question:My name is Jennifer(Jenny) Bevill. I like the name Jenny, but I'm afraid that Bevill isn't going to work for me. People prefer names they know how to pronounce. People always mispronounce Bevill, saying "Beeville" or "Bevell" when it's pronounced "Bev-ul". Can you think of a way to shorten Bevill or change it up a little? I also really like the name Gogol, but it's a man's name and Russian, and I've got no Russian ancestory. What'd be some possible stage names for me?

I think your real name is Great for a stage name. Unless you really need to change it i would not.

marlina,mirna,shahinaz,

Bevill sounds like a cool name, I think it could be a stage name! or you could go with your Gogol one. if you are going to change your name I guess it mustn't really matter who your ancestors are.

Don't have Jenny- have Jen or Jenna or even Jennifer- something original. I've always liked Red Mimilith as a name- choose something so original that people look twice at the names list. Go through newspapers, plays, films and ESPECIALLY BOOKS for really good names.

Jennifer Bev

I don't think mispronunciation is that big a deal, if they say it wrong just politely correct them.

I wouldn't go for Jenny, maybe Jenna.

Jenna Bevill...sounds like a great stage name, actually!

What immediately comes to mind for the last name is Deville. While some may consider it a little cornball as it is a model of Cadillac, its pronunciation is standard.

Regardless, Jennifer Deville has a good cadence to it, being three syllables and then two syllables.

In all fairness, there is a very old and famous line from a movie from a lady actor (can't recall who), "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. Deville." This may not be the actual quote; however, you can count on those short on wit to bring it up.

As far as a first name, I have always had a soft spot for the name Deora, which English-speaking folk usually pronounce "di-or-ra" (using Romance language pronunciation). It is definitely a feminine name and it is not at all common; it has the bonus of not being bizarre while being unique.

I don't know if I can recommend the use of these two names together; it wasn't my intention. Deora Deville may not work smoothly because both names start with a very similar sound.

Then again, Marilyn Monroe was successful with similar sounding beginnings.
