I have the same problem at times. If you're trying out for a play and you have to cold read a script, maybe try seeing if you can read it before hand, whether its with a partner or just reading it to yourself in your head. It will help you get used to the dialogue and get a feel for things.

If it a monologue, and it's a complete cold reading, then just take a second before you start and concentrate. You should ahve a good feeling or knowledge of the character before hand, and be able to concentrate on portraying that. If you can do this, then you will be able to "preform" it more. It will amke it loads better. Just concentrate and practice doing this. It will make you better.

Good luck.
