it looks really cool, and my mom says i can do it next year so she can save money. but i want to make sure it's real.

My suggestion is to find out who are the teachers at any School or Camp. Look up who they are and where they went to School and what they have done. Do they have a good reputation ?
A school is only as good as the Teacher who Teaches.

Good Luck

It's real, and apparently from the various sites I visited, has a good reputation.

my feeling toward all acting "camps" are that they are a real scam.

they "teach" you things, yes. you may even get a in a film as a background extra that, sure you can enter in IMDB, but no one will care about.

my guess is that it's a few guys with cameras making an "independent" (not that there's anything wrong with independent film making) film that my never show up.

to me it also looks like a way for you to pay $3100 to some guys for you to "audition" in front of "8 top agents" who will just throw your info away, and not care.

but that's just me.

It certainly looks professional, but that means nothing. Nowhere on the site does it give any actual names of company directors, teachers, etc., and testimonials can be written by anyone. There are no names or contact details for any of those either, so you can't check if they are genuine. I would try to find out a bit more before I parted with that much money. Try contacting some of the more well known actors associations, like the actors' academy, and see if they can offer any help.

They have no complaints or anything against them but I have actually looked at their site and everything before and it looks very touristy. They don't tell you who their instructors are and what their credits/credentials are for one... They have their students all do the same (old!) scenes, at least that's what it looked like in their clips. I'm not sure how much instruction and coaching you get so much as a tour and some flash but I really don't know. It would be so much better though if you could find someone who has actual experience with this camp to get some first hand accounts. It just seems like a lot of money and there are several local acting studios that have summer workshops without some of the 'extras' but you may (or may not?) get better instruction. No local acting studio that I know of will manufacture a film or tv show so that you will have a credit, nor will they promise to introduce you to famous people (this camp pays them to show up as is the norm for personal appearances) but those other studios have actually taught those name actors the techniques they learned and used to get the roles that made them famous... AND the names of those studios and acting coaches may be more valuable to have on your acting resume than a camp. Honestly, I'm not a casting director or an agent and only they could tell you if the name of this camp means anything to them or not in that regard but I know for certain that some acting studios and teachers names being on your resume do tell them that you take your career seriously and took the time to find the right place to take classes.

If you are interested in looking at any other places in LA, start
here: http://www.workingactors.com/cgi-bin/pag... I know people who are happy with Young Actor's Space, David Wells, Weist-Barron-Hill, Cynthia Bain & Margie Haber. I'm sure there are many others that are great and you may find that the ones that I listed are not for you so please check them out for yourself and make your own decision. Ask a lot of questions and make sure you find a place that suits your needs.

Best of luck,
Marianne
