Position:Home>Theater & Acting> I'm having trouble memorizing my lines for Macbeth, can anyone help me?

Question:I have done everything that I can think of to memorize the lines for the part of Macbeth in Macbeth. I have watched about 8 movie renditions and read the play more times than I can count, read the Cliffs Notes and essays to help with my character and I know how to read Shakespeare just fine, but I cannot seem to commit my lines to memory and I have studied them a TON.
I have 2 versions of the audio play that I listen to while doing silent reading of the play. I even listen to it in my car on the way to and from school and work. I started recording myself saying the lines but it was taking me forever to get them right while reading it out loud alone, so, I stopped.
I have a number of scenes down perfectly, that I have rehearsed together with some other classmates, but most classmates don't care about the play and don't make themselves available to practice, so, I pretty much have to rely on memorizing lines mostly by myself.
The play is only a few weeks away, and lines are due next week

i struggle with this problem aswell. First of all i would understand what all the lines mean. this helps me know how to say them and consequentially learn them
Also record the other lines onto a tape and leave gaps were yours are. Do a section about 1/2 a page long with the script then without feel free to glance a few times but try get it perfect. do this with the next section. and then add it on to ones you have allready done it is long but it works.
