I took my daughter to see it a few years ago, and the dancing was wonderful, and of course the music. I am more used to theatre with vocals from various people or dialogue, so I kept waiting for something to happen, and it never did. I wish someone would have mentioned the bar scene to me before I took her. I think the actors enjoyed the sexual movements and it was a bit much taking a whole dance group of various ages.

It depends on what you enjoy and what you go in expecting. I'm a HUGE Billy Joel fan, and I didn't like it at all. I was expecting more of a traditional Broadway musical...about 60% dialog with a bunch of Billy Joel songs interspersed throughout. That's not what it is.

It's a guy (and a backing band) playing one Billy Joel song after another while the cast dances to them. There's a plot line, but there's no dialog. Just song, song, song, and a bunch of limber dancers. Not at all what I expected. For my money, I'd rather just see Billy Joel in concert.

But...it did win several Tony awards, and the dancing is impressive. Everyone else in the theater besides my date and me seemed to like it.
