Yes, I can play that song. It's one my FAVORITES!

Hmmm, it took me about about an hour, maybe less than that, to get it all perfect. (timing, notes, pedal, rhythm, etc.) I can also sing along with it! But that's because I've been playing piano for 9 years.

I think this song's a bit hard only because of the key signature. It's in B major (so many sharps!). And the speed of the theme notes might also be a factor for difficulty. I'm not sure of your piano skills. For all I know, you could be the master of sightreading! If you're good at reading notes, then it shouldn't take you very long to learn it. If you struggle with reading notes, then it might take you a couple hours (maybe a day or two, if you don't practice very often each day).

For now, work on getting the notes right. Work hands separately first. Don't try to get through it all at once. Do section by section. (Get the first verse down first, then move on to chorus, etc.)

Once you've got all the notes down, and can play both hands together, it might be very helpful to look up the Vanessa Carlton's music video on Youtube and listen to it. Don't go with the same tempo as her at first. Work slowly still, gradually increasing your speed. But that music video really helped me with the correct rhythm. (I used to go wayy faster than necessary).

Don't forget to add some pedaling. :)

I hope this helps! I also really REALLY hope you can learn it in time for the talent show! With your friend singing it, I bet it would be great!!

Don't give up! And have fun!

once you get the hook of that song you are all set, just keep trying with the song. It's fairly simple i think you should be able to pick it up quickly... however if you're looking for a better answer i would recommend posting this question in the music section... good luck!
