Question:I am a drama student going to play a role of a retarded young man. Any movies with similar characters recommended? Or are there any other ways I could learn for how to make my character more alive? Thanks ^v^

What kind of handicap does your character have is very important. Also it's probably not the best idea to have all your research consist of other actor's interpretations of 'retarded' characters. Use these steps for your research:
1) find out what the handicap your character has
2) do research on the characteristics of that aliment
3) watch interviews/documentaries of Real people who are affected
4) Finally after coming up with your Own interpretation, watch a hollywood actor portray a completly different person with the same handicap and take ideas from there as well

Remember there are different degrees of severity, as well as different personalities of people with handicaps. So being able to mimic another actors performance is just not good enough.
