{and what's the story line}

The Dish - about the true story of the Australian Satellite dish that broadcasted the images of the Moon Landing across the entire world. It's a silent but dignified achievement that was turned into a movie very well. Lots of humour, not too scientific, and the real Dish - which is in the middle of a sheep paddock in a country town - still stands to this day.

I've grown up with this movie and it has fast become my favourite. It wasn't made with a large budget, it never became a blockbuster. It's a quiet little victory for cinema and also the achievements of 4 individuals helping the world see the first steps on the moon all those years ago. Brilliant stuff! You got to see it to appreciate it, but I think it's only avaliable in Australia. Perhaps try amazon.com or something to find it.

Ones that stand out are:
~Frequency (amazing time-travel thriller with Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel)
~Lady in the Water (M. Night Shyamalan....great film about people....and all other Shyamalan films, as well...they're really good and really artistically filmed and written)
~Lord of the Rings (enough said)
~Pirates of the Caribbean (again...enough said)
~Muppet Christmas Carol (Charles Dicken's story, but done by the Muppets and Michael Caine)
~Freedom Writers (great story about relationships and prejudice)
~Harry Potter (Once again, enough said)
~X-Men (Great superhero movies)
~Muppet Treasure Island (Treasure Island Muppte style...really fun...)
~Flightplan (creepy, amazing thriller)
~Troy (definitely rated R, but really good...totally screws with the original story, especially the ending, btw, but still good)
~Princess Bride (an absolute must...pure genious...instant classic)
~Rain Man (incredible...jerk and his autistic brother take an unplanned road trip and get to know eachother)
~Master and Commander (sooo incredibly sad and intense...Russel Crowe and Paul Bettany are amazing)
~Italian Job (really fun heist movie...robbers are the bad guys)
~Thomas Crowne Affair (another good heist movie, only this one is more about the cat and mouse games that happen AFTER the object in question is stolen)
~Jack and the Beanstalk: The True Story (probably hard to find, as it was a "made for tv movie" but it's really good...it's an adaption of the old fairy tale, but isn't all politically correct and garbage...actually a good movie)
