Yeah, usually, if the show is really popular.
Some examples:
Les Miserables
A Chorus Line
My Fair Lady
Chicago
42nd Street
Sweeney Todd
Guys And Dolls
Fiddler On The Roof
Jesus Christ Superstar
West Side Story
Gypsy
The Fantasticks

That goes to show that many shows will come back..and don't forget to check the tour for Rent at http://www.siteforrent.com :)
I'm luckily seeing it on april 1st...but I NEED to see John Gallagher Jr as Mark...squeeee. :)

It can come back as a revival, yes.

it might come back because my favorite show the simpsons was taken on tv for a long time then it finaly came back so i think it might just keep checking it

A Broadway show costs several million dollars to put on a stage - the producers would not be closing it if they thought there was a chance it needed to stay open. (They could certainly change their minds before it closes though.)

Shows frequently come back as revivals, but not the same production. That is, it may be the same show, but it would look different. Costume and scene design different, and usually other elements. "A Chorus Line" is a recent exception - it is a clone of the original.

The Rent tour is still out I believe, but a company with non-union actors.

yeah, it would only come back as a revival- like You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. it was waay different when it came back, but atleast it had K. Chenoweth and A. Rapp! ;)
I know, i really wish Rent would stay. we can hope for a tour, though!
