I need some good advice on how to become a director.?

Question:I am 13 and will be in high school in 5 monthes. I'd really really love to be a director, as I like to take pictures and am very interested in angles, lighting, filming ect...
I'm planning to take Beginning video production as one of my electives. Is this a good choice? Can you please give me good ideas as to what I will actually be doing in this class, and as a director in general? Also, can you please give me examples on how directors are discovered? What about directing internationally? Please give me as much information as you know.
