Great Question!!! Okay here is how it works. There is acting and then their is drama. Acting is more of performing a play whereas drama is more of studying a play. So if your worried about a ton of exams on the history of great playwrites than I would not go to college. Now if you are interested in acting I would look into going to acting school which is a school that focuses mainly on becoming a professional actor. Now as far as Auditions go yes you want to try out for them as much as possible. One of the ways most actors or actresses get their start is through being seen playing various parts in plays. Many talent scouts attend plays looking for new talent to bring to light. So yes you need as many auditions as possible. I hope this helps you out and that you get to where you want to in life.

Sincerely, Magnificent George

College is not a necessity for being an actor and is often a waste of time and money. What is necessary is lots of experience (be in all the plays you can) and training at professional studios -- a class here and a class there. When you have a resume full of good experience and training, you can try to get an agent.

Agree. Everyone I know who went to college for acting is now teaching it and most of them are in their mid 20s. I do think you need some type of formal training. Something to focus on might be Shakespearean lit or Voice and Speech Production.
