That is stupid. You can not act and stuff and do what you want by going by what your friends like and dislike. If you want to be in the play, be in the play, but be ready for rejection. You will get that a lot in the acting business. But always remember to be confident, and always be in a good mood. Good luck.

If you want to be a performer, then you must get used to facing rejection. It doesn't matter what your friends think.

An actor gets into character. This means that your own personality goes away for a while, and you act out the part completely.

What who will ask? Who is "they"?

But if you want to get involved in your school productions, you will simply have to ignore what your friends like. Do what YOU want to do. As far as "getting it wrong" goes, that's what rehearsals are for. You practice enough to not get it wrong.
