Position:Home>Theater & Acting> I want to become an actress. How to I persue my dream?

Question:I am 14 years old and i have a dream of becoming an actress. I've told my parents, and i feel that i am talented enough to try it. I am very confident, but not overconfident. I really want to act & next year, in my first year of highschool, im going to try out for drama. But how do i get a head start? How can i make this dream come true? Anyone have tips, ideas, or lessons? Any acting websites i could use?

Thanks.

start taking drama lessons in the first place... then move on from there.. opportunities will come don't worry. And the most important thing is that you take every opportunity that comes your way... be it big or small... it may be the key to wonderful years of success for your career.. and don't look far, just take every day as it comes, since moving with big steps can make you stumble and lose everything. Check out this website for acting tips : http://www.actortips.com/home-guest. and goodluck!! =)

i am exactly like you, that is why i am going to an acting camp for a few weeks in l.a, do something like that, do some acting in your school as well. stay healthy as well, dont become really skinny or really fat, stay normal. hope it works out to u.

I'd like to be an actress too. There are some things that I think/ people have told me are good to do :
dance class
actng camp
school acting club

I hope I sort of helped, you can email me whenever you want
Also try to practice having a loud clear voice. And try to play games that require memory because acting is like 75% memeorizing your lines. So good luck :)

-Start out by auditioning at your local theatre. Also check your newspaper and theatre's websites in your area.
-Take an acting class or camp, either at a teen's theatre or by a good instructor.
-Once you get serious about acting, you may want to consider getting a resume and headshot to submit to agents and casting directors.
-Read acting books like Act Now- these really helped me.
Good luck!
Acting Websites to use (but please, don't pay for them!):
http://www.actorsaccess.com
http://www.exploretalent.com
http://www.starsearchcasting.com
http://www.newfaces.com
http://www.nowcasting.com

telling you parents is not enough, convincing them to work for you to get you experience, training and eventually an agent is what you need.
