I need help for my Seussical audition!?

Question:I am a freshie at my high school is putting on a production of Seussical the Musical. I am auditioning for the part of JoJo who is a young boy or girl who thinks many great "thinks" which often get in trouble. Jojo is a character who is young innocent passionate and creative. The song I am singing for the audition is the begging part of "its possible" (this might be a pool like i've read of in books...etc.) In this song, Jojo is imagining that his/her bathtub really isnt a bathtub, but something more exciting. I need help on portraying that character when I sing. I was told to act like a young kid on Christmas morning waking up and seeing presents everywhere, that sort of "aw" face. Since character is very important to show during auditions, i need to know if there are any other movements i can do or ways i can look without over acting. this is very important to me and I desire for this part. Theres one other girl who is tough competition but i think if i learn to do this right. HELP??

Don't plan so much. It's a bad idea for an audition. It gives you too much to remember, and it makes you look fake an contrived. Just go in, do you best, and be natural.

Your director already told you what he/she wants? Why would you do otherwise and seek other suggestions? That could actually *hurt* your chances, not help.

Hmm, trying putting a hopeful face on you know? Hope in your eyes, like you really really want something! Like bite your bottem lip and squeeze your hands in a fist! Like you just really want it you know lol! This is hard to explain but i do a lot of acting. Maybe when your saying it's possible you might nod, try acting out in front of a mirrior and definatly practice your vocals with songs ( like rent maybe? ) Try doing high parts in songs to practice just to warm your voice up! Think of how you were when you were akid.

I was in this when my school did it ( i was yertle the turtle) and it is such a fun play!! i had some of the most fun i've ever had working on this. for jojo, while you are singing "it's possible", you should move around, and use your arms some. act as if with every few steps you are discovering something new, but don't make it all corny and sentimental, as if you are performing in your audition. and when you hit "it's possible, anything's possibe" you might look as if you hope that it is possible so much that it really is. also, don't look at the people all the time, look around, but look at them a fair amount. try to communicate with your expressions that you are letting each of them personally in on your hopes and dreams, and a secret. hope this helps! break a leg!!
