Position:Home>Theater & Acting> What can i do to hide the fact that I can't reach high notes....?

Question:So, i was in my schools musical, and my Drama teacher said i have the potential to be an actress/singer. She recommended me to some talent scouts but the song i have to sing has a whole bunch of high notes(unlike the musical songs). The acting part is easy but not the singing part. Is there a way to make my voice sound better while singing and prevent sounding like a chipmunk?

I don't know what song you are singing, but if it fits you can try to speak-sing that part. Another option is to transpose the enitre song down a few steps until you can hit all the notes. The most important thing to remember when singing high notes is to not try to control the note in your mouth or throat. No matter what word you are singing, it should just come out as an "ah" or something like that. You can't worry about forming a word all the way up there. All your support needs to come from your diaphragm, and you just need to create as much space in your mouth as possible. If you sing a lot of high notes in a row, it's not uncommon to feel a little ache in your stomache muscles. This means youre doing it right. i hope this helped!

Well if the notes are high anf don't fit your vocal range I think you should change it and sing it a little lower.

GEt your music teacher to change the key of the song to a lower key.
