Position:Home>Theater & Acting> What is the standard distance of the front seats to stage in theaters?

Question:and what is the angle of the rows?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: and what is the angle of the rows?

It's always different. In many Broadway theates, because the orchestra pit is mostly under the stage, the front row is just a few feet away from the stage lip, and you have to look up at a serious angle if you're in the front row.

Other theatres have orchestra pits that are not sunken, so the orchestra would literally be sitting right in front of the front row, so the first row would be about 8 or 10 feet from the stage.

It differs with each theatre and also each show. Set designers often build out the apron creating a thrust for a show, minimizing the pit.
