I like clifford's advice.

I would emphasize that you should speak more slowly than you think you should; also, add moments of silence. Everybody's hearing your presentation for the first time, and they need time to absorb what you've said.

If you make a mistake, acknowledge it good-naturedly, rather than meekly apologizing.

Don't open with a joke; that's a signal that the presentation is going to be lame.

Speak to individuals rather than having your eyes focus above the crowd.

And practice, practice, practice. Do it speaking to a wall (I know, this sounds weird, but it helps to solidify the words). Then do it speaking to a mirror. Try it out on a couple of friends. You want to be as prepared as you can be.

Color? Avoid white, loud prints or really bright colors (it's hard to look at for a long time and will detract from your face). A pastel shirt would be fine.

And if you're using Powerpoint, please please don't read what's on the slide.

Picture yourself naked...
Where a yellow shirt with a rainbow...
This usually works for me and a drink or two before you hit the stage...

Do not talk fast. Enunciate your words clearly. Try hard to not say, "like, you know, stuff like, ummm." Never say, "Like I said before..." Some people like the format of - tell them what you are going to say, say it, then tell them what you said (kinda like a preview, then the main event, then a recap). Don't talk in a monotone. Move around a little if you can (microphone issues may prevent this). Focus on a few people in various areas of the audience and pretend they are friends you are simply chatting with.

Dress conservatively light colored top and darker colored bottom. You don't want people distracted by your clothing.

Make eye contact with your audience it's a small thing that most people forget about but it makes a big difference.
