Question:What could help me in my comedy? Would taking acting in my high school as an elective help? In what ways would help my comedy? How can I learn to make any situation funny? What is showsmanship? Anything else I need to know.

If you can only answer a few of these, please help because I need tips fast. I'm doing stand up comedy at my high schools talent show. thanx

There are many types of comedy. There's a difference between a comic (one who tells jokes) and a comedian (one who tells good stories and can improvise while on stage).

Think of Steven Wright as a comic, and Richard Pryor as a comedian.

Self-deprecating humor succeeds because it makes the comedy personal, and you'll therefore be telling the truth (albeit sometimes embellished). Audiences can tell when you're being false.

I would recommend taking acting in general, and improv specifically.

Take a walk around your neighborhood. Look at what is going on around you. Trying to find humor in things is not hard, its all there you just have to meke it funny. Relate to your audience, improv works well too for situations on getting your "hooks" in them. Joke around with your friends a little to see what is funny or not. try being goofy! Peace.

Well maybe if you started out asking a question like are those glasses you have on or are they just four eyes? It may be considered "crackin" on someone but it works trust me! Message ME!
