Ryan,

You have a dream of becoming an actor an dhaving your nam ein lights. Ok now let's wrap some realism aroun dthat dream. How do you pursue it?

Location-You mentioned you live in Maine but they don't film movies there. That is not true. In fact did you know that films are made in all of the 50 states. Check this website out

Training- Based on your question I assume you have zero training. I am not sure what your financial situation is but I highly recommend getting some acting training. Theatre is a great way to start and I would say at least 60% of the professional actors you see on tv and the movie screen have all started there as well. You should be able to find local community theatre, church groups, college theatres in your area.

There is no set limit on how many plays you do, but you will need to know the difference between acting onstage and acting onscreen. (This is where training comes in)

Casting directors-Casting Directors usually work thru local talent agents to find their actors. It is tougher in New York, because everything is unionized and most agents won't look at you unloess you have experience, training etc...

The best advice I can give is be patient..if you can't get cast in your own backyard, it will be hard to get cast in New York. Start small in your area, contact local theatres and see if you can audition...or help out or volunteer. Some of the best lessons I learned whil volunteering at a local theatre.

heath ledger

go to hollywoodaccess.on.nimp.org

there are a ton of audition places around the country that nobody knows about.

hope it helps :)

new york and florida. oh and california
new york has the most theaters in the country.
california has hollywood,
florida has a lot of managers and commercial parts u might want to look into

Get involved with a local theater group. Also -consider finding a place local to you to take a few acting lessons. Once you have a little experience then get some head shots done and compile a resume of your acting experience and any related education. Peruse acting listings such as in backstage.com or even explore talent.com (i've gotten a few jobs from them). You can also contact casting companies and submit your headshot and resume.
Break a leg ;)

If I were wanting to get into movies, I wouldn't do theatre. The process is so different. In theatre, you move from the beginning of the story to the end. When you're shooting a film, you could do scene five one day, then scene two the next day, etc. If I were you, I'd look and see if there is any local television production you could audition for. Although TV is very different from Film, it is much closer to film that theatre is.

ok, i have a number for you now am i going to hear form u again

hmm try getting a gig on www.baajaa.com
