The father is a domineering and cold man. Julia becomes engaged to a guy named Johnny, and Linda falls in love with him. They're actually much more alike, but Linda loves her sister and wouldn't do anything to hurt her. Meanwhile, everyone but Linda is encouraging him to settle down and go into business, but what he really wants to do is make enough money so he can go on "holiday" while he's still young enough to enjoy it.
