Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Drama club for kids, any suggestions for the cool acting exercises we could use?

Question:I have strared a drama club kind of thing with a very small group of kids who have zero acting experience. I am not an acting teacher and I don't have any experience or education in acting, but I do want this to be fun for all of us. Are there any of you who tried doing/read about something like that? Any suggestions for cool acting exercises are welcome.

Thank y'all! :)

Play a game called 'Honey, If You Love Me'.
Someone is 'it' first, and everyone else sits in a circle.
The 'it' person picks someone, walks up to them, and says, in whatever way they want, "Honey, if you love me, would you please just smile?" (They are NOT allowed to touch the person they're asking)
The person being asked must reply, "Honey, you know I love you, but I just can't smile," WITHOUT smiling.

It's tough, but it's fun, and a good ice breaker and acting excercise.

Ha, thats really great!

Okay, so one is the freeze game....you should know it, its very common.....its when you sit in a circle....and 2 people are in middle....they start a scene, just like pretending they are eating pizza, or on a date....then some one, whenever they want, yells freeze...in what ever weird position the 2 kids are in, they freeze. then the person who yelled it comes in...taps the one person they want to replace, takes that person position, and starts a whole NEW scene about something haveing to do with that posistion....also, trying tounge twisters....they help with dictions.

i went to an acting camp in the summer and we played wax museam, hot seat, and some other things like skits and stuff!
glad i could help :-D

My name is ________ and I _(action)_ they say what they do and do it. As they go around the circle they say the names and do the actions of the kids before them. It's a great way to get kids to learn each other's names and get them used to acting funny around each other.

Whoosh! There is an invisible "whoosh" ball. You can throw it to some one else (say "Whoosh!"), stop it ("WHOA!")ramp it over the head of the person next to you ("RAMP!"), ramp it back ("RE-RAMP!"), ramp it back again ("RA-ZIZZLE-RAMP!") or call one of the other actions (you keep the whoosh ball). Like "Hey _____, (fill in another person's name) you're looking mighty fine tonight!" The person called out diva walks into the middle of the circle and poses as the others pretend to snap pictures. Or "Jackie Chan!" everyone clutches their ankle and hops in a circle saying "Oh! My ankle!" You can make up more of those as you go, and believe me, kids will. It may seem complicated, but kids LOVE this game. You can play if kids mess up they're out, or have them do a "diva death" and then they can get back in.

Honey if you love me, as mentioned before is a great one. Make sure you tell them there's no touching though if they're younger kids. And the freeze game is wonderful as well.

Hope this helps. ^_^
