Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Questions on resumes and pictures for acting.?

Question:Ok. I am going to go get a few headshots done soon, and I was wondering what it is best to get done. How many different pictures should you have? I was thinking no more then 2? Should you have one headshot and 1 full body shot? Or both headshots?

Thanks for the help.

If you have to ask, the odds of you getting hired by Disney Channel are slim.

OK, now that I've dealt off that bit of unpleasant reality:

You need one headshot. It should show you with no noticeable makeup and hair in a normal, nondescript hairstyle. The idea is that the director wants to know what raw material there is to work with. Sometimes, the headshot will contain several thumbnails of the actor in extreme character makeup to indicate what sorts of roles have been done in the past--but that's not essential.

Your resume--since the question title brings it up--should contain three sections:

1. Contact information. Name, address phone email, agent's address and phone and email, etc.

2. Experience. Short list of major roles you've played, etc.

3. Education. Noteworthy degrees, workshops, etc.

End it with "references available on request".

It depends on what kind of actor you are. If you are an actor but also want to model and do catalogue, you would have different pictures than a musical theatre actor. A character actor would not have "soap shots." A television actor would have different pictures than a theatre-only person. The trends are even different from coast to coast - LA pics look a little different that NY pics do sometimes.

Okay for acting you only need a headshot, just one. For you resume it should have you contact info. And your stats (Height, weight, hair color, eye color). It should list your major roles and training in categories (i.e. theater, television, film). Then it should list you skills. There you go hope I helped.
