Position:Home>Theater & Acting> What is the correct format for play writing?Question:Does it have a format like screenplays? Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Does it have a format like screenplays? well this is just off the top of my head.. but you usually start with just a dramatis personnae (in other words, listing all of the characters) most plays are set out in acts, but it's not essential. The play usually starts with a description of how you envision the set. (this is written in italics or something so it's not confused with lines) then it follows a regular dialogue. Like this = Halie : What did you say? Dodge : Nothing. You put stage or acting instructions in brackets. hope this helps. I'd go look at a play - it's fairly simple No, plays don't have the same format. You'll have to get your hands on a play to see the formatting. It's different and also simpler than screenwriting format. |
