There is a difference between getting accepted into an agency and actually getting a "real" agent. And this is a distinction I have never seen anyone else really mention in this forum.

What people WANT is an agent. What people seem to TALK about most in this forum are agencies.

You can probably get into an AGENCY with the right look, personality, and some experience - but not necessarily much. A lot of actors starting out seem to think that being accepted into an agency means they have an agent. In a way they do, but agencies have hundreds if not thousands of actors on file - which means they are not actively pursuing jobs and auditions just for you.

With an agency, you have to work to make sure they remember you - and stay on top of keeping them updated on what shows you're doing, etc. You can't just sit back and expect them to get you work. It could be rare that they ever call you for something at all.

Finding an actual AGENT is a lot harder. They will not just accept anyone who comes to their office. They need to find talent who they feel can beat out the competition, because they only get paid if you book a job, so it is in their best interest to only represent the best. They won't accept someone with no experience. It would be too much of a risk - especially if they only take on a handful of actors to represent. To get an agent, you need to have training, good credits, good press, recommendations (sometimes), and be a really good actor.

Perhaps if you're still a child or a teen, they don't expect as much training or credits on your resume, but they will still want to see that you are cast-able.

I guess the long and the short of it is... you can get accepted into an agency much easier than you can find an agent.

Finding an agent isn't something you do when you're just beginning your career. Even with an agency, you should have some experience under your belt before pursuing that route.

It doesnt matter, whenever the person is ready, and looks for an agent, they can have one!

Well, you should have at least some experience before you even consider getting an agent. You'll have to show them what you can do, what you have done etc.

You should be able to get an agent right away if you think your that good!

u can audition for an agentcie whether u hav experience or not
DONT PAY TO HAVE ONE cos they r scam artists (just thought i would warn u)
an agent looks for whether u hav potental and talent rather than experience
just hav a go
u hav nufink to lose!
