Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Booking outdoor theatre space?

Question:I'm planning a summer or late spring show for 2009. The theatre I want is in high demand so I want to book soon to make sure I can get the space. The show is only playing one day but I'm worried about weather. Should I book two days in a row in case of rain or should I book another week. If I book two dates will I have to pay for two of them? If I do change the date due to weather how do I let people know?

Suggestions?

Plan your show for summer, pick a month where you know it doesn't rain. If it is in high demand you may need to submit a full proposal of what you are planning on doing-- most theatre spaces don't like to rent a weekend day for a one day event (because it ruins the whole weekend as a possibility of being rented) you might have to opt for a weird day like a monday or tuesday-- if you plan on doing any installation will probably need it the day before at least to hang lights and sound, you will have to pay for your tech day, from experience one day probably may not be enough to recoup your expenses, I would extend the run at least through the weekend, book the space wednesday through sunday (wednesday/thursday hang lights set up sound and build and install sets rehearse thursday, run friday and two on saturday sunday strike)
