I know many people ask for auditions online, but anyone else that is planning on becoming an actor another way?

My career so far (from just starting to present)...

* local theatre classes and drama camp
* school plays
* dance classes
* voice lessons
* community theatre
* college for theatre
* Shakespeare classes
* stage combat classes
* more voice
* more dance
* community theatre
* small professional theatre
* a show at a LORT professional theatre
* became an Equity Membership Candidate
* work constantly doing small professional shows
* some national tv here and there, but nothing big, but not extra work
* doing leads in indy films
* busy doing indy films and small professional theatre

From here, what I plan to do and have started to do, is try to go to EPA's (equity principal auditions) for bigger professional theatres - including theatres out of my area. I plan to start submitting myself to higher paying, more prominent projects. I intend to take a few trips to NYC this year (schedule permitting) and go to all the EPA's and open calls I can.

I'm going back and forth about when I want to pursue an agent. I work constantly now, and I know that if I had a real agent, they would help find auditions I would be good for. However, it is a lot of work to find an actual agent (not just a talent agency), so for right now, I think I want to concentrate on doing more professional theatre and indy films. And once I turn Equity, I'll start looking for an agent. I already have very good credits on my resume, I just think being a member of Actor's Equity is going to look much better to an agent.

I'm training up again - taking classes and honing my skills to make sure I am polished and in good shape for these auditions. I am also looking for new audition pieces (monologues and songs.)

I am also having a website made and I will be getting new headshots. I plan to have postcards made this time as well, so I can start doing a lot more mailings to casting directors and maybe even agents. I plan to keep track of all of my auditions. And do a better job of marketing myself and letting casting directors and agents know when I am in a show.

That's the plan for now.

move to LA.. go to open casting calls.. look for an agent

Well first off, if you don't have the money to viset L.A. for all thoes auditions, go to modelsearchamerica.com or talentrock.com! Thoes help lots. They have plenty of auditions, soon you will be on the road!!! But if your carrer gets too big be planned to move to L.A. or New York! Woops I almost forgot that when your just going up for auditions get an agent! Hope this really helps, and I hope this dream of yours really comes true! Thanks!
