What is ECC?

Question:I just came across this term for the first time today as I looked up equity auditions.

I tried to do a search on google, but I guess I never found the right combination of words to come up with a result that told me what ECC stands for.

I also tried to do a Y!A search to see if this has ever been addressed - and as far as I can tell, it hasn't.

So... what does ECC stand for?

ECC = Equity Chorus Call

I suspect the place you need to be looking is the compete Equity rules, which may not be online for non-members. There are actually several levels of Equity requirements for theaters using Equity actors as to how many Equity actors they must hire and how many non-Equity paid and how many volunteers can be used. A low budget art operation might be authorized for Equity actors if it uses 1 per production, but if it not authorized, then Equity actors can't work there.
So ECC may be a theater category or a division within Equity. I know of them but not all of them - call the theater or Equity and ask.
