Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Don't you have to grow up in a musically literate household, to be able to seriously consider this path? No, I wouldn't say that. It really helps to have grown up in a rich musical environment, but that doesn't mean everyone in your house (or indeed, anyone in your house!) has to be musical. If you mean musically "literate" in the sense being able to read music, play instruments, etc, it's not necessary. A family which likes LISTENING to classical music, and has fostered a person's love of music, is more important. If someone enjoys music, and would really like to consider this path, the best thing they could do would be to listen to as much good music as possible. Borrow CDs, listen, listen, listen. To opera, to other classical music. Of course, a little musical training and singing lessons at an appropriate stage probably wouldn't go entirely astray either :-) Well, yeah I guess it probably would. If the piano's kept in tune! But I've come to realise also that there are usually a few paths leading to the same outcome. You sound like this is something you want to do? Good luck, if that's the case. Thanks for the 'best answer', by the way. Report It * You must be logged into Answers to add comments. Sign in or Register. Other Answers (3) |
