Question:I go to a super small school, and there is 10 kids in my musical theatre class. We are going to do HSM 1 or 2 and there are 6 girls. 3 of us are going to go for Gabriella, and I am one of them. There is this one girl, and she is the most repulsive, obnoxious girl in the entire world. She thinks she is going to get the part of Gabriella, and I really want it. She is a huge hypocrite, because she maked fun of us for being a 'bad' singer, when she is tone deaf herself. Do you have any tips to make my voice a little stronger in a few weeks? Please and thanks. :)

Alrighty... I know just how you feel. First of all, don't worry about her. I know a girl just like her and she's a (female dog.. other wise they bleep it out) and she is just jealous. Second of all. I would run through scales everyday. Make sure you don't scream (bad bad idea before an audition) . I would sing it for a music instructor at your school or ask your parents for a few vocal lessons leading up to the audition. Also, if you can, work on your audition song as often as you can. Make sure you BE YOURSELF! Do not try to mimick what Gabriella really sounds like because if you do they will think that you are nervous to be yourself. People aren't supposed to sound exactly like someone else. Do not act like Vanessa Hudgens! Be Y-O-U!Be confident on stage and all that jazz. Most of all don't worry. You'll do amazingly, I promise. Good Luck!

learn the songs- and for the audition try to copy cat them- once they realize u can get into character u can add ur own flare to it. Good luck

Dont let them get you down

Think on this; What you think is reflected in the tonal quality of your voice, so forget the obnoxious actions of any girl. Clear that darkness from your mind and brighten your voice.

Open your mind to Gabriella and the audition song to present her character. Learn a few things about her character, where she's been and what she wants. Let these feelings color the quality of your tones.

To strengthen your voice, learn to scoop or loop from the lowest register you can go to the highest and learn to
do it without your voice cracking and if it cracks don't worry about it, continue.

Try to get to a key board, a music teacher. Hum to the pitch of the different keys. starting with C. Your voice will strengthen as you open the hum to vowels and back again to hum.

To clear your vocal chords and vibrate them, clean them of phlem without putting a strain on your lower register or your normal singing voice, use falsetto to warm up..."Ahh ee AH, OH", do this up then down then backwards.

Do these exercises and don't worry about getting the part. Singing and music and acting are arts, gifts you will have with you long after this day and this play is past. Take these divine gifts with you into your life, and let them bless you all the days of your life.

Agreed. Don't try to do exactly what the original artist does, but don't take too many liberties with it either. Keep it classic, yet show your vocal strengths.

And a few vocal lessons before it isn't a bad idea at all. They can really help to warm up your voice and you can use their techniques.

hah tht SNOB should get the role of SHARPAY lol :P
