Position:Home>Theater & Acting> CALLING ALL SWEENEY TODD LOVERs!!!?

Question:So, I was just wondering... what do you think of the musical vs. the movie??? Here's my take on it: you just can't compare them. I mean, they're sooo good and so different. it would be like comparing the new willy wonka to the new one.... so.... I LOVE THEM BOTH!!!

Haven't seen the film yet, but from the reviews and trailer it's much darker than the Broadway show which was quite funny as well as suspenseful in places. I cannot imagine any two better than Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou in those roles.

johnny depp is my husband.. no comparison there.. it was great!!!!! i love the movie wayyy more and i saw the play live

movie was really gory!

I've only seen the movie, but I LOVE it (exempt for ALL of the gore and silting of the throats,) I'm in love with their voices and the music *squee* Johnny's just the best of the best!

I agree with the wonka, they both have their own charms, different characteristics. Though I must say in the deep roy clones vs. the little orange faced men with green hair, the deep roy's are better oompa loompas lol and Freddie highmoor didn't seem to whine wile the other charlie (sorry I forget his name, I once knew EVERY actor's name in BOTH movies, lol a few years ago) was just not so cool, breaking the rules etc.

I loved the movie. I never got to see the musical but the movie was so great. I can't wait to buy it on DVD.

Here I'll copy what I've said on another question before. {I'm a crazy obsessed revival fan!}

I HATED it.. Johnny Depp was very nasally, and when he had speaking parts he was really very monotone. {He's usually a very good actor, so idk what happened.} Helena Bonham Carter was ok, a little breathy for me....got on my nerves after awhile, but not everyone's Patti LuPone! x]

WTF was with Toby being like 13? I like it a lot better when he's 17 or 18. The chick who played Johanna was a great singer. She had a slight accent, but it wasn't too bad. Then there's Anthony. WTFH? He looks like a girl, and sings like a nasally 13 year old boy who's experiencing puberty.....he was my least favourite in the movie.

The blood....wow.....overkill much? It looked like kool-aid. It actually was pretty funny. The camera's were also apparently very attracted to HBC breasts, which they zoomed up on with every oppotunity. Oh, and I hate it that they cut out songs....all the Ballads, Ah Miss, Kiss Me.....*sigh*

Well, apparently I'm the only one on earth who doesn't like it at least a little bit. {I think it's because I'm a crazy obsessive fan} It's really sad too, because I've talked to some people who think that Tim Burton came up with the whole idea and everything for Sweeney Todd, that Johnny Depp is the one and ONLY Sweeney, and that any other version sucks and they should never see them.

The Movie is no compare to the Musical...the movie just pretty much ruined the real Sweeney Todd

I've never seen the musical, only the movie.. but I thought that the plot of the story in general is sorta lame - but the music is awesome!!!! the actors all did a really good job in the movie too...except i didn't like the guy who was in love with joanna...he was ugly. but overall I liked it - I especially love the worst pies in london song...
