Position:Home>Theater & Acting> My mom.....?

Question:My mom doesnt know how much I want to be an actress! I already auditioned for two things. A play then in front of talent agents for a commerical. I got in to this really good acting school only people with talent and passion for acting can get in. My mom turned it down! She says I need to act in like theaters! I really want to act in tv/ films. I at least want to go to a acting school. How can I convince my mom to let me do it!!

Anna, never stop your belief in acting. It is something I always wanted, but things didnt workout due to money. So at my age I still plan to do a movie or a TV show. (when I win the lottery). Dont quit!!!!!!!

just give up your dreams. they're silly. study hard then get a job as a clerk in wal-mart. in a few years, you can be an assistant manager.

This all does not make sense. First of all most places will not let you audition without your parent present, and you are foolish to do so. Second What acting school was it? IF it was Powers you mom was wise not to go for their SCAM. If you are under 18, you gotta do what mom says, she is right to say that you need to be in plays, that is how one learns to act. Be in lots of plays and when people who see you start telling her how great you are, she may let you take professional lessons form a reliable studio.

well i think the just really is looking out for you and wants the best for you she wants you to be happy and this is the only way she know how. have a heart 2 heart talk with her and tell her how you feel and maybe you can come to an agreement.

look...for now, you'll have to do theatre, audition for plays, and get you're resume better, get an agent, take a couple of headshot photos, get into even more plays, and then try to audition for film. but dont audition for anything big, you'll have to audition for something small, or they wont accept you. audition for something like a commercial, and work you're way up. trust me, it WONT be easy, and it'll take ALOT of patience and money to make this work. if this is what you want to do, go for it. Right now i'm trying to get into more plays (I've already been in a couple) to get a good agent and work my way up from there.

Your mother is right. The best place to learn acting is on the job, on the stage. You kids who want instant fame without the work sicken me.
