Okay, how do i research about how theater progessed over time?

Question:i have to do this essay and i have NO idea how to research
do i just type in theater 1789 and then theater 1876 and see how its different???
I HAVE NO IDEA
so if theres any key words of web sites that can help plz tell me THANKS -and yeah i typed in theater over time and i got nothing

try "theatre history." I know that there are books specifically on theatre history; try looking in the books section on amazon.com. Some may even have a timeline with Western and eastern theatre separately.

there are books you can read with theatre history, you can look online for the information as well. Theatre started in Greek Times, then Roman, then through Queen Elizabeth days with Shakespeare, and so forth.

Better go to a library and get a theatre history book and read about it.

Go to the library, look up THEATER in the card catalog or on line SUBJECT search catagory and then go read ALL them books!
