Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How to get experience? (Acting/singing)?

Question:I want to get some acting/singing experience for my resume but I have no idea how to get some. I don't know of any communtity theaters around here (I live in Birmingham, AL.) and I homeschool so I can't join my school's drama club.

and btw I'm 15 so I'm limited to the city in terms of where I can go.

I definitely agree with Theatre Doc. Try to get into as many plays as you can, if your parents are willing to take you to audition and all that (I hope they will!) and if not, don't worry, because are still rather young and you still have most of your life yet to live! :) If you have a passion for acting and singing, and you actually get out there once you're old enough, I'm sure nothing can really hold you back from becoming successful. :)

Good luck!

You are up the creek, old boy. If your parents will not take you to community theatre for you to get experience, and you are not taking singing lessons or acting lessons you cannot progress. There also could well be a youth theatre in your city if your parents would take you to it. Use the phone book or web search to find all the things you need. But it sounds like you just need to grow to majority and get out on your own so you can do what you want to do,
