Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Great responses after acting, what does it mean?

Question:OK so, recently, I tried out for a school play for the first time When i left the auditions I felt toally amazing [I'm not even kidding, I wanted to cry i felt so great] I got a supporting part. When the play was over, a lot of people were telling me how well i did. Even people who I don't know and people who usually never have anything good to say about acting were telling me how well I did. At closing night when I was helping take down set, with my friend [who has been in many plays but is usually in the chorus ]and my director, i told him [the director] "thanks for making this a great first play !" and he was like "this was your first play? you did a good job" Anyway, i want to act seriously now, because i can't forget how good acting feels!! I am afraid though, what if i'm just letting those few compliments go to my head? what if i just suck slightly less than the other kids at my school? WHAT SHOULD I DO????
thanx
p.s. please, no negative comments

Take your kudos! Good job! If people say you did well, accept their compliments-- random people wouldn't compliment you if it wasn't justified.

Look for community theater auditions in your town. Google is good, but it should also say in your local newspaper.

How nice that you had such a positive first experience. It sounds like you have the "bug".

Keep doing shows either in school or community theatre, and you will keep getting better. Have fun.

Continue acting for different people though. Get others people's opinion before you do anything huge like audtition for a major play. The worst you can do is embaress yourself
