Question:I just got the lead in my school play. Normally they cast older kids as the lead, and I was the only younger kid who auditioned for a lead. I got the part! I'm so happy! I've been singing since I was 2, but acting... not so much. Anyone have any tips? Thanks everyone.

Learn your lines. Be confident. Acting(if you have talent, which you must, or they wouldn't have cast you)is pretty easy. Acting on stage you have to be just a bit more hammy. This means all your actions are bigger than they would normally be. If it is a comedy, you are going for the laughs. Think about your character and how you want to portray the character. Enunciate your words and speak in a clear voice. Other than that you will have a director to give you all the ins and outs of stage acting. Just remember to have fun.

When you say something funny look at the audience and smile, possibly give a thumbs up too... Will Smith did it all the time in Fresh Prince of Bel Aire and now he's huge.

My tip is not to come on Yahoo Answers for tips.. But its kinda too late for that now aint it?

picture everyone in their underwear ; )

Make sure you know your lines of course.and try to feel like your the character act as if you were her...it will be more believeable if you believe you are the character.

WORK WITH A PRIVATE ACTING COACH WHO CAN HELP YOU REALLY GET INTO THE CHARACTER. ALSO DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK YOUR DIRECTOR QUESTIONS DURING THE REHEARSAL PROCESS. HE OR SHE OBVIOUSLY SAW SOMETHING SPECIAL IN YOU TO GIVE YOU THE LEAD AND DON'T EVER THINK THAT ASKING QUESTIONS MAKES YOU LOOK DUMB - IT DOESN'T - IT MAKES YOU LOOK SMART BECAUSE YOU ARE DELVING DEEPER INTO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO AND UNDERSTAND YOU CHARACTERS NEEDS WANTS/MOTIVATIONS. WORK HARD AND HAVE FUN!

You should be asking your director this...
