Question:why are the stars mainly represented by the non franchised?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: why are the stars mainly represented by the non franchised?

SAG - The film actors union in the United States
ATA - An association of talent agencies in the US (talent includes actors, directors, writers, &al)
NATR - The ATA in NYC and the part of ATA that interfaces with SAG

See "WHAT ARE ATA & NATR AND WHAT IS THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD?" here: http://www.agentassociation.com/frontdoo...

I've never heard of ATA or NATR, at least not in the US

All SAG members have to be represented by SAG Franchised agents. All the major ones, CAA, WMA are all SAG Franchised.

Basically SAG franchised means the agent is bonded, state licensed and agrees to never make LESS than SAG terms on the SAG actor and to release them after 90 day notice of no auditions, even if the term of their agreement is for years and has a maximum percentage fee they can charge and only charges a fee on SAG authorized payments.
