Although John was my favorite, Paul definitely sang the more melodic pieces.

The best songs for an audition are ones from the play and the role you're going for. This let's the director visualise you in the role.
Most of the Beatles songs have a pretty serious vocal range so, if you've got a good range, they can be a good choice but, if not...disaster.

I like "Let It Be", "Imagine".

I'd probably avoid John & Yoko's "Kiss" with that orgasm thing going... might kinda get dismissed from your audition rather early.

Yesterday--would be nice. I would say listen to the songs and practice, then you will know which ones are within your range/grasp.

Alot depends on your range but I think In My Life or Oh Darling would be fun.
