11 Monologue ,, Opening Line ,, Any Ideas ??

Question:I have to do a monologue and i am planning on doing it on 9/11. I want to d it as some-one who has lost someone in it. I was thinking of maybe doing it as the man whos wife found out she was pregnant that day and then went to work. Any ideas on how to open it ? I want it to be quite sad and effective.

Character: I don't remember the crash. I remember the dust. The smoke. The adrenaline. I remember the blood on the street. And that terrible sinking suspiscion that nothing was ever going to be the same.

Something along the lines of he wanted her to take a day off to celebrate or something and she refused saying they'd have a special meal out that evening, after she returned from work. It could be he got everything ready, dressed up ect. but that meal will never happen 'cause she won't ever return from work...? Perhaps. Heh.
